Because… Why not!
Life is a magnificent tapestry of randomness, weaving its threads through the moments that define us. Moments that pass by, whether we notice them or not. Sure, big events in life anchor themselves in the memory and we reminisce them often. But what of those small moments, those insignificant ones that apparently have no business occupying the real estate in our minds? The ones that just happen and pass by in the blink of an eye, without so much as a whisper in our minds or hearts. Its these small insignificant moments that make up our days.. and life!
So here goes a ramble of 5 random things and thoughts that came to mind as I was thinking about this:
Awesome weather never fails to cheer up
Place where I stay, has a great weather this time of the year. Its breezy and the green becomes greener š It feels like trees are doing a happy dance! There’s just something about this weather that brings a huge smile. It invites you to come out, take a lazy stroll or just go for a run. Just taking a moment to savor this time and appreciating the simple pleasures of life is a reminder that life is beautiful the way it is.
Empty nest is a mixed feeling
My kids have gone to visit their grandparents. Coming home to an empty nest has been a mixed feeling. It feels nice to see the home spic and span, with no clutter around. Beds are made; things are where they are supposed to be. But it’s also eerily silent. There seems to be a void, a presence that’s dearly missed. These past few days has left me wondering if this is how it’s going to be in just a few years!
Work can fill up all the space
In this fast-paced corporate world, the aspiration to pursue next growth avenue, hunger to learn and do more, means there is always a next thing to do. Any amount of time put in doesn’t seem enough. But when there are external factors (like kids / family) it becomes a forcing function to take an intentional pause and carve out time to focus on other important things of life. But in the absence of that external factor, work seems to fill up all the waking hours of the day. Such is the case of late, with me (with no kids around). No complaints. But it’s also a reminder to put some focus on carving out time for things other than kids.
It’s fun to cook and eat dishes that no one else likes
Like other things, kids also monopolize what gets made in the kitchen š In a world where their choices dominate our courses of action, it’s almost heavenly to find a window of opportunity to march to the beat of our own taste buds. These past few days, I’ve been indulging in dishes that my kids don’t like and it’s been such a delightful experience. Some of these I haven’t had in ages!
Logophilia is still my first love
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but words still hold a unique ability to express emotions and convey thoughts in a way that you want them to. I have always loved the play of words. I find joy in discovering interesting words, unraveling their meanings, pronunciation, and etymology. As I was reading Sherlock Holmes the other day, I realized I still love the vintage British language, primarily for the choice of words. Guess logophilia will always be a love.
