When we think of gratitude, we usually think of big things in life that we are thankful and grateful for. A healthy body that we are blessed with, a stable job to take care of expenses and savings, family for unconditional love, friends for social support and so on. These are all the anchors which ground us and keep us moving forward.
While these big foundational blocks will always be at the back of our minds, it’s the small things in daily life that we usually take for granted. And yet they bring a smile on the face if we paused and thought about those. They give us perspective on valuing and cherishing what we have been blessed with. Little things that we take for granted or don’t even think about.
Small things I am grateful for
Morning cup of filter coffee
I’ve developed a thing for filter coffee in last year or so. Few things can match the aroma of a fresh coffee. It’s almost a routine to pick up filter coffee after having breakfast in the morning. And I am grateful to be able to do that and relish it.
Short commute to office
Traffic in every big city is a pain. My commute to office is 1.5 km and I am happy about that. For many years it was 48km one way, so I can appreciate the saved hassle and mental stress.
Music play lists
Music always brings a smile on face. It has an innate ability to put you in a positive mindset even in the most distressing situations. I am grateful for the technology and access to this wonderful world.
Comfy bed
This is one of my little indulgences – a super comfortable bed with crisp linen and lots of pillows. I am grateful to be able to have this to retire to, after a long day at work.
Brustro Fine liner Pens
These little guys are amazingly pigmented and simply glide on the paper. They are such a pleasure to draw and write with. Every time I put them to use and make something, it brings a smile. So happy to have them.
This is more of a note-to-self kind of a post to be intentional about even the small joys of life and be thankful and grateful for cheer that they bring on.
